Es gibt wohl keinen Rugbyclub auf der Welt, der mir so ans Herz gewachsen ist wie die Lions aus Johannesburg. Von den meisten Südafrikaner belächelt, lieferten sie letztes Jahr eine phantastische Saison ab und waren sowohl in den Super 14 als auch im Curie Cup äußerst erfolgreich. Dieses Jahr scheint sich der Trend nun leider nicht fortzusetzen. Am Samstag verfolgte ich das Spiel live übers Internet und die Löwen verloren, obwohl es zur Pause noch 5:3 stand. Momentan stehen sie am Ende der Tabelle. Der einzige Trost in meinen Augen ist wohl, dass die Blue Bulls aus Pretoria sich auch dort in der Nähe aufhalten.

Although I am not any more in South Africa I am watching the games of Johannesburg’s Rugby Club – the lions. An Australian internet company provides the games of Super 14 live on internet. So I had a chance on Saturday’s morning at 09h30 watching the game between the lions and Waratahs. Unfortunately the lions lost the game but they were fighting hardly. I don’t want to say anything about the ranking, but it looks bad. I can find a small comfort, if I have a look at the positions of cheetahs and blue bulls. South African’s pride in this year are the sharks. It looks good that they will play in the final.
